Summary

Another game day, another postponement; there was little doubt that this afternoon’s game would be postponed. As the seemingly endless “monsoon” season has done over the past few weeks, the area was once again drenched with heavy rain that lasted through most of the day. The seemingly endless “monsoon” season hit the area once again with rain that lasted through most of the day. In fact, the situation looked so fruitless that coach A-WOL dismissed the team hours before game time. Indeed, the 2009 season was starting to resemble that of 2008, where after two games all the team has to show for it are two postponements.

“This is definitely not a good way to start the season” said coach A-WOL. “It’s very difficult to keep the team focused on playing when we haven’t even played a single game. What’s worse is that the team has not had a game to ‘shake-off the rust’. Come game 3, our opponents will have the benefit of having at least a game under their belts.”

Wolan later added that he expects the season to drag on, just like it did in 2008.

Disappointment in matters was not limited to the coaching staff. “Look at this [weather]” said starting outfielder Don Muldoon. “It’s been damp and rainy for the last six weeks. It’s July but the temperature rarely goes above the 70’s. When will it end?”

“I am heartbroken” said an equally dismayed Bhavani Vankineni. “When will this ‘monsoon season’ end?”

Disappointment and heartbreak was also shared with the fans. Jason Powell, a fan from Cincinnati, flew in to catch Game 2. Unfortunately, all he saw was a lot of rain, and a complimentary tour of the team’s headquarters. “I guess I’ll be flying back to Cincinnati… boy will my arms be tired.”

But amongst the dismayed and heart-broken there was one individual who seemed unphased by the rain-out; perhaps even delighted. “I don’t want to play softball, I want to work!” said senior VP Ruben Echandy. “I’m hoping that every game this season is rained-out.”

While making these remarks, the team reporter noticed that Ruben was wearing the same shirt that he wore when the Game 2 of the 2008 season was postponed. Coincidence? Perhaps. Or perhaps this shirt is part of some kind of apparel used in a rain summoning ritual. The writing staff will keep a close eye on Ruben for any suspicious activity.
